The name of Melbourne hardcore band The Weight of Silence is totally fitting. These guys are so heavy, even the silence between songs is like a breath of death that sucks the life out of the room… makes you want to smash something just to feel like you’re still alive. It’s totally incredible that they can get so much sound out of a simple three-piece set up. Their latest EP Transitions is literally like a 22 minute wall of sound—each song is even heavier than the next. The epic nature of their music is evoked in song titles like “As The Last Leaf Falls”, “A Letter To A Jaded World” and “When Winter Comes”. With influences ranging from Lamb of God to Sepultura to Slayer, there’s really no doubt this band lays down some heavy grooves.
