This acoustic duo definitely impresses with soulful vocal delivery and catchy melodies, which are set off by the rhythmic acoustic guitar and the upbeat sound of the cajon. HAYBAX incorporates uplifting melodic lines, contrasted nicely by the pining nature of the lyrics themselves. Take the song “Summertime” where the singer dreams impatiently about wearing his new flip flops for the summer weather that just never seems to come fast enough. Or “Home” where he once again dreams of getting back to the warm weather of Australia—this one really sums up the rolling, road trip feel to their music. The snappiness of the vocal delivery, as well as the incredible vocal range, recalls pop singers like Bruno Mars, but the laid-back, rootsy feel to the instrumentals is definitely more in line with guys like Ben Harper and Jack Johnson. Be sure to check out HAYBAX when they go on stage at The Espy for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia this Friday, May 9th. Let them take you on a rolling, acoustic ride.
