The Diary of Emma Quee
This young singer songwriter from Sydney uses her songs as a diary, and the result is powerfully compelling songs with easily relatable lyrics
Emma Quee uses her songwriting as a diary—a way of expressing her inner thoughts and emotions. And the result is a kind of indie pop crossover with lyrics that are easily relatable and forceful melodies that drive their way deep into your soul. Check out her single “Hot Air Balloon” for a taste. This is big stuff. Epic melody. Stadium rock. As opposed to “Second Hand Stores” which takes on a more stripped down acoustic sound. She has a great range in her original material, with the common denominator being her visionary, playful approach to her lyrics. Each song is a very visual story that plays out with every word. On the heels of her debut EP release last November she’s been gigging regularly, even playing at the Opera House—twice! She just added Emergenza Festival Australia to her list of venues, playing last night at The Lair for round one in the contest. Click here to follow Emma Quee, and be sure to check back in with us at Emergenza.net to see if she's made it to the semi-finals!
