Age is no Limit for The Citizens

This young indie pop rock band from Sydney proves they’re no teenyboppers on stage at The Lair

You’ve got to give it to the young guys of The Citizens for managing to gig so frequently and create such a local following when age restrictions in clubs are so, well, let’s say, age discriminatory. In this band’s case the music definitely speaks for itself however. They find inspirations for their indie pop rock tunes in bands like Ball Park Music, Boy and Bear, The Easybeats, and The Beatles, giving them a sentimental vibe with retro undertones. Music that anyone, young and old, can relate to. The video for original song “Just Say So” makes it known that they are serious. Young or not, there’s no ‘buts’ about it. These guys can play. And they’ve got a great ear for catchy riffs and melody. They’re no teeny-boppers—and they let that be known last night on stage at The Lair for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. Click here to follow The Citizens, and be sure to check back in with us at Emergenza.net to see if they’ve made it to the semi-finals!
