This group of multi-instrumentalists and vocalists create a dreamy, harmonic mix that they plan to take to the stage at The Lair next Thursday, April 10th for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. Before they go on, they stop off to introduce us to the band, talk to us a bit about their sound, and get us in the vibe for their set at The Lair.

WHAT’S THE INSPIRATION FOR THE NAME LITTLE HART?
We are small dears with an affinity for antlers.

WHO PLAYS WHAT IN THE BAND AND WHAT KEEPS YOU INSPIRED TO PLAY MUSIC TOGETHER AS A BAND?
We are all vocalists, and we play, in alphabetical order: Bron – violin and guitar; Cam – ukulele and mandolin; Lou – acoustic guitar, piano, and flute; Miles – electric guitar; Mitch – acoustic guitar, piano, and cajon; Paul – drums; and Scott – bass. We stick together because, cheesy as it sounds, we bloody love each other, and like to think that we’re onto something sonically.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Collaborative charm colossus.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MUSICAL AND NON MUSICAL INSPIRATIONS?
We have influences spanning across many genres, mainly folk, trip-hop and alternative rock, such as Portishead, Radiohead, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros.

WHERE HAVE YOU PLAYED BEFORE AND WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM GIG BE?
We’ve played at The Basement, Factory Theatre, Fbi social, The Red Rattler, and more wonderful venues around Sydney. Dream gig would be a set-up deep in an incredibly remote forest where electricity isn’t a concern and there are fairies. Everywhere.

HOW ARE YOU PREPARING FOR THE SHOW AT THE LAIR?
Copious amounts of practice in a studio that is far too brightly-lit.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
As an unsigned band, the exposure that Emergenza offers was highly alluring.
