The music of blues rock four-piece band Dr Malone from Melbourne definitely speaks for itself: funky, full of great hooks and twangy slide guitar. And so, fittingly, the band kept it brief in our pre-show interview before they go on stage at The Espy for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. Hear what the band had to say about their signature sound and what might be in store for Sunday, March 30th.

CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO THE BAND D.R. MALONE? WHO PLAYS WHAT?
We’re a four-piece band with Dave on vocals and acoustic guitar, Walter on bass guitar, Brendan on lead guitar, and Johno on drums.

WHAT'S THE KEY ELEMENT TO YOUR SOUND?
We are a blues band with lots of slide guitar, hooks and vocal melodies.

HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INTO THE BLUES SCENE, AND HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER BANDS IN THE GENRE?
We like to think that we have our own original sound and we record it all at our own studio that we have.

WHAT DRIVES YOU TO PERFORM LIVE?
We just love to play our music.

WHERE HAVE YOU PLAYED BEFORE AND WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM GIG BE?
We play all around town three to four gigs a month, so that keeps us very busy. We would love to play in Germany!

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO GET OUT OF YOUR GIG AT THE ESPY?
More fans and to get recognition.

You guys seem to have it together and we just want to work with good people.
