    Unwinding with The Moral Panics

The Moral Panics hang out with Emergenza to talk about their inspirations before their gig at The Espy on March 30th

Young Melbourne band The Moral Panics may be new to performing, but they won’t be shy about showing what they’ve got on March 30th at The Espy for round one in Emergenza Festival Australia. Chock full of edginess and attitude with the musicianship to back it up, these guys (and girls) are full steam ahead for this Sunday. You won’t want to miss it. Before the show they take a moment to talk to us about some of the inspirations behind the band and the music.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME THE MORAL PANICS?
I (Steph) came up with the name after being in my Sociology class and hearing the term moral panic, and I thought it would be a good name for a band, and before you know it, here we are.

WHO PLAYS WHAT IN THE BAND?
I play bass and also sing, Jack plays guitar and Campbell smashes the drums.

WHAT ARE YOUR MAJOR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
One of our major influences is Led Zeppelin, but we're mainly influenced by almost everything.

WHAT'S THE STRANGEST OBJECT IN YOUR REHEARSAL SPACE?
Our strangest object in our rehearsal space at this current time would be our portable air conditioner. Our room gets too hot and stuffy sometimes.

WHERE HAVE YOU PLAYED BEFORE AND WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM GIG BE?
We've played three gigs: two at the Central Club Hotel and one at the 303 Bar. Our dream gig would probably be headlining a festival with thousands of people or playing at Wembley Stadium.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE SHOW AT THE ESPY?
We wouldn't mind making some new fans at The Espy, we love showing people what we've got.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
We chose Emergenza because our drummer said it was a great experience when doing the competition with his other band.
