The girls of Wild Violet are ready—as they say—to pull on the leather and put on a great show this Sunday, March 30th at The Espy for Emergenza Festival Australia. They’re up against several older, more versed bands for round one of the competition, but that doesn’t phase this teenage all girl rock band. They’ve got the musical chops, the wicked riffs and explosive energy to hold their own on stage. Before the show, they make it oh-so-clear how hard a girl can rock.

WHAT’S THE INSPIRATION FOR THE NAME WILD VIOLET?
Wild Violet has a lot of meaning behind it. To us, it's rebellion, non-conformity, and the notion girls CAN rock. It also serves tribute to the iconic and highly inspirational guitarist Randy Rhoads—our name sounds similar to his former bands’ names Quiet Riot and Violet Fox. But most importantly, our name is very much open to interpretation—Wild Violet means what YOU perceive it to mean!

WHO PLAYS WHAT IN THE BAND?
Octavia on lead vocals, Angelica on guitar and backing vocals, Alicia on bass and backing vocals, and Niyoosha on drums.

WHAT SEPARATES YOU FROM MOST BANDS THESE DAYS?
People are shocked to see a bunch of teenage girls get on stage and start playing Black Sabbath songs. Our live shows have often been described as a loud wall of sound, thunderous riffs and passionate energy radiating from the stage!

WHERE HAVE YOU PLAYED BEFORE AND WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM GIG BE?
We've previously played many well-regarded Melbourne music venues and multiple outdoor festivals including Cherry Bar, Musicland, Central Club, and Whole Lotta Love Bar... Our ultimate dream would be to take our music to stages all around the world.

HOW ARE YOU PREPARING FOR THE SHOW AT THE ESPY?
Working on a killer set, adding some final touches to our performance and preparing to pull on the leather and put on a great show!

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
We feel by choosing Emergenza it is our next step, it opens more doors which lead into new opportunities that Wild Violet is ready for.
