With the guys from Aussie Hard Rock band Guzzler it’s all about drinking up and laying down the riffs. Mixing the sounds of 80’s hard rock, punk, and metal, it’s not hard to imagine how these guys can get a crowd going. Before they hit the stage at The Espy for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia, they momentarily put their drinks and guitars down to chat with us.

WHAT’S THE INSPIRATION FOR THE NAME GUZZLER?
The name GUZZLER was inspired from a few different areas... it relates to drinking, which is a very rock ‘n' roll past time, it relates to volume of fuel used in car engines... faster, louder... just the way we like it… it’s easy to remember too.

CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO THE MEMBERS OF THE BAND?
The members of GUZZLER are: Matt on guitar, James on vocals, Haydz on bass, Steve on drums... Matt + Steve are the main songwriters, but all members have an input into a song’s direction and structure.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Aussie Hard Rock.

WHAT’S YOUR PRACTICE SPACE LIKE?
We rehearse in an isolated area, in an old whiskey distillery... not much sound proofing... but no need, as there are no neighbors... and we can try to siphon out any left over juices in the barrels between sets....

WHERE HAVE YOU PLAYED BEFORE AND WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM GIG BE?
GUZZLER have played lots of gigs over the years, from local parties to supporting international acts.... Our dream gig would be to share a stadium stage with one or more our major influences.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE SHOW AT THE ESPY?
The GUZZLER boys are looking forward to playing The ESPY on the 29th March, and to see the punters singing along to our songs, having a good time, and being thoroughly entertained is what it’s all about.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
GUZZLER would not normally enter a battle of the bands scenario, we have to be fair to the other local bands.... But Emergenza is a global effort... and given the chance, the GUZZLER boys are up for showing the world how to rock... Australian style!
