Four-piece, hard rock band from Sydney, Emerald Scar, is chomping at the bit to hit the stage at The Factory Theatre on the 1st to battle it out in the semi-finals. At stake is the chance to play their way into the Emergenza finals and be sent all the way to Europe to represent Australia at a huge open-air festival. It’s going to be an unforgettable night of rock and roll music. Before the show, they sit down with Emergenza to talk to us about their musical influences, what their live performances are like, and what’s in store for their audience at The Factory Theatre on the 1st.

CAN YOU GIVE US A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO YOUR BAND EMERALD SCAR?
Emerald Scar is a four-peace alternative rock band from Sydney NSW that revolutionises rock music, with originality and charisma, and most of all loves to entertain the crowd and put on a good show.

WHAT BANDS HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR SOUND, AND IN WHAT WAY?
All four of us have completely different ideas: I (Exaven) love blues and classic rock, Jordan likes rock, James heavy metal, Dane funk, and every one of our songs have a different style.

WHO WRITES THE SONGS AND WHAT ARE THEY ABOUT? WHAT'S YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS LIKE?
We all contribute to writing and creating our material when one of us comes up with a riff or an idea we randomly jam it and put each of our own style on it. We mostly write songs about the world and where it’s heading, what's touched us, and even how we are feeling at the time.

WHICH ONE OF YOUR SONGS DO YOU THINK SPEAKS TO YOUR FANS THE MOST AND BEST REPRESENTS YOU AS ARTISTS?
All of our songs have something to say to the world. We feel as if our band as a whole is one big MSG to the people. We have a song for all moods no matter how you are feeling at the time.

UP TO THIS POINT, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE BAND'S BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT? OBSTACLE?
Just to create amazing music with some great guys, and that every time we play to see more fans, friends and family singing our music. As for obstacles: we all live far away from each other. We pretty much travel an hour and a half just to have band practice, but wouldn't change it.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
Seeing the photos on the Emergenza Facebook page before we found out we went through priceless – all four of us had the same look on our faces!

HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
Feels great we just can't wait to rip it up again, what ever happens we will never forget the experience.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING GIG AT THE FACTORY THEATRE?
Me (Exaven) personally I would like to take memories, the look on people’s faces.
Hopefully to have a drink and mingle with some new people.

WHAT'S A LIVE EMERALD SCAR SHOW LIKE?
A live Emerald scar show is like a box of chocolates – you never know what your gonna get!

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE ON EMERGENZA?
I saw an ad and thought why not. I have nothing to lose, and the famous bands that have been in Emergenza before just put the icing on the musical cake.
