Four-piece Sydney based indie reggae funk rock band say the Police, Sticky Fingers and the Chili Peppers have all been big influences on their sound, “particularly in the way they utilise reggae and funk respectively in pop and rock music” – and from a song writing perspective “John Mayer is another notable influence” for them. They say they try to cover many different bases in terms of genre while maintaining an engaging, fun live show.
They’ve got something about their sound that manages to engage you and put you at ease at the same time while listening to their music. Despite their young ages they’ve been quite prolific as a band and already have six original songs that you can stream on their Facebook band page. “Outspoken” is perfect for summing up their personal style with its bright guitar tone, technical, almost jazzy, drumming, and an easy approach to the melody and vocals.
Look out for them at The Factory Theatre on the 7th where they plan to battle it out with seven other bands in the semi-finals of the Emergenza Festival. They say they’re excited, but find the semi-finals a bit daunting, and so they’re preparing the best show they can in order to fight off the nerves and guarantee them a spot in the finals. Don’t miss out on Jester.
