U:CODIA: Coming Out Swinging with a Seven-Song Debut EP

This Sydney band is concentrated on quality, putting together a wicked debut EP and top-notch live shows – don’t miss out on their next gig at The Factory Theatre for the semi-finals

U:CODIA is an alternative rock band, as they say, with “big guitars, big drums, big everything really”, and that statement is right on the money. Their sound is enormous, powerful, but never overwhelming, always keeping a focus on the melody and control over the dynamics. They take their influence from bands like The Foo Fighters, U2, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Kings of Leon, but U:CODIA has their own story to tell, in their own words. And they’re in the process of writing it everyday.

Determined to do what it takes to produce high-level music and get recognized, they’ve already released their seven-song debut EP to I-Tunes and Spotify. And they really came out swinging, involving the international efforts of engineer Josh Telford at The Grove Studios in Australia who worked on the original recording, Nic Manders who mixed the album in New Zealand, and Andy VanDette who took care of the mastering at Masterdisk in New York. What an effort for a debut EP! They’re particularly proud of the fourth track from the EP, “The Impossible Room”, which they say is not only an inspiring song and one that their fans have really connected with, but “musically, melodically, dynamically and lyrically it very much encapsulates” who they are as a band. And they’re getting ready to put together a video for it, which they begin recording in early November. All in all, things are on the up and up for this new band!

They say the atmosphere was electric at their last gig at The Lair for the first round, and are looking forward to putting their all into their upcoming performance in hopes of obtaining that same sort of dynamic at The Factory Theatre. Be there the 2nd of November. It’s going to be electric.
