Mashing up their influences of bands like Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, and The Butterfly Effect, Velocet has tasked themselves with creating music that resonates with people. And so far they’re doing a great job, already releasing their debut self-titled EP. Velocet is packed with just over 22 minutes of original tunes, every minute of which showcases the band’s ability to tell great stories through their intense progressive metal build ups, highly emotive lead vocals, and provocative, intricate backing harmonies. “Harmatia” is probably the one that grabs you the most right out of the gates, with its ominous, repetitive guitar, riffing over the drum roll as it all builds up to a breaking point. But all the songs are equally cool. There it is. Velocet just laid it on the line in a serious way with their debut release. And don’t think for a second they’re stopping there. The future is wide open for these guys.
They’ve already had a string of shows at well-respected venues all around Sydney, and are following that up with their big upcoming gig at The Factory Theatre. They’re set to hit the stage in an epic battle to get to the finals of the Emergenza Festival. It all goes down on the 20th. You’re not going want to miss out on this opportunity to expose yourself to the incredible, moving original music of Velocet.
