Following Up the Wide Awake Release by THE FIXATORS

Sydney band The Fixators are priming their fans for the follow up album to their debut EP Wide Awake

It’s clear that The Fixators are incredibly unified and secure in what they want to produce as a band. They’ve got a cohesive aesthetic, which runs all the way from their cover art and band photos right down to the back mix in their songs. As far as their sound goes, they say when their fans first described them as “stadium rock”, they just went with it, and it seems to explain them pretty well, although perhaps the title overlooks their more edgy qualities. They’ve already got one EP out, which is entitled Wide Awake. The short album goes on for six songs, and every song is better than the next. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that the 6th song is so much better than the opening track. It’s that, as you get deeper and deeper into the album, you really begin to understand the minds of the musicians, enter into the mood of the album, and really groove to the songs.

They’ve got a really full sound, accented by great riffs, catchy backing harmonies, and really powerful lead vocals. By the end of the album, you begin to wonder why this band is in a competition for unsigned bands and they haven’t been snagged up by some record label yet. Believe it or not, their follow up EP is already in the works, and they’re doing a great job promoting it by allowing fans to preorder before the official release date. The reality of the music industry today is that it is constantly demanding new releases, so it’s great to see a young band be so prolific, and not become complacent, just waiting for their first release to hit. While their stadium awaits them, they’re hitting the stage at The Factory Theatre to battle it out at the semi-finals of the Emergenza Festival. Be there. You can’t miss the opportunity to see this band play live.
