The City Sharps are veterans to Melbourne’s historic rock and roll scene. Made up entirely of ex-Sharps they are a constant reminder of how much modern music is indebted to long forgotten movements and sub-cultures. Together they decided it was time to stand up to the, as they say, “‘covered up rip-offs’ or ‘inspired by someone else’s’ beats and rap nursery rhymes that make up most of the top 40 lists these days”. And they’re doing just that by re-capturing the magic riffs, recording techniques and tricks that created the great sounds of the 70′s.

But, before pigeon holing them into a niche-genre, or 70’s revival band category, give them a good lesson first. They’ve actually got a really well rounded sound and experiment with grooves going as far back as the 60’s and all the way up to the 90’s, always staying true to their rock and roll creed. Recently they've been recording their third collection of songs and are just about ready to share them with the world. Who knows, maybe they’ll debut some of these songs at their next show.
