POPPY Fills the Stage with Her Bumping Pop Beats

Melbourne artist Poppy and her band are getting ready for an incredible production on stage at The Espy on the 19th

Poppy says she’s cute and nasty, all wrapped into one. What could be better, really? To get a real feel for her sound, you can stream a whole slew of her songs on her Soundcloud, and they are all incredible quality, bumping pop songs. I mean, this lady is prolific! Do we have another Gaga in the works, or what? In the break down of her song “Gypsy” where the vocals transition into a rap-like delivery, you can hear the influence of artists like Ke$ha. She also claims the influences of Annie Lenox, Beyonce, and, oddly, Dusty Springfield, but she manages to transform her influences into something totally her own. Try out her song “Massacre”. This one probably explains the “nasty” bit of her artist personality.

But be warned before you press play on this track: it will stay on repeat for at least an hour! It’s so good it actually requires you to play it on repeat. She definitely owns her sound, with her incredibly powerful vocals, which totally soar over her bumping dance beats. It’s no trouble at all to imagine how this lady owns the stage when she performs. Obviously, her audience at the first round were swept away, since now she’s on her way to the semi-finals of the Emergenza Festival. She says she can’t wait to move up to the bigger stage at The Espy on the 19th, since her production and sound are so big. Believe me, you won’t want to miss out on this incredible, fun-filled, and nasty performance!
