Out of the Garage and onto The Espy Stage with SALAD DAYS

Melbourne band Salad Days takes their funky brand of garage rock to the semi-finals of the Emergenza Festival at The Espy on the 18th

Salad Days says they are a genre-less mix of different influences, but their sound is actually well honed into something totally their own. Their signature: high caliber instrumentation and super memorable vocal melodies. They’ve got a garage spirit, which probably comes from spending hours in their rehearsal space, a garage. But from that locale comes a surprisingly polished sound. The lead guitar has surfy funkiness to it, which really structures their songs and helps to drive them forward. And the funky sound couldn’t compliment the vocals any better, which are filled with attitude and soul.

For now, they are all a bit too busy with studies to take the time to do any serious recording. But after you hear their music, you will consider it your next major priority in life to get these guys into the studio, and stat. Their single “Voices”, which you can stream from their Facebook page, will have you setting your music player to repeat. You won’t be able to get enough of this song, and it will soon become exactly what the song’s lyrics talk about…. voices in your head. Catchy, soulful songs like these are exactly what got them the votes to get into the semi-finals, so make sure to come down to The Espy to watch them battle it out, and cast your vote again on the 18th.
