Though formed just 10 months ago, Carmeria has well established themselves on the local music scene and are serious about broadening the reach of their project beyond their local borders. Last month they added to the list of major bands they’ve played with, by opening up for Flyleaf for the Sydney leg of their national New Horizons tour at The Metro Theatre. They also just released their debut EP Awakening, which includes 5 original songs. Curious about their music? You can stream the full EP on the band’s Bandcamp page.
They take the melodic metal thing seriously by crafting beautiful melodies, which soar over the well-structured, technical accompaniment. Take their song “Safer to Run” for example, which epitomizes their ability to sell the message of a song simply through a compelling melody and incredible timing. If you’re out of the loop when it comes to Carmeria, don’t worry. You’ve got another chance to see them play live this weekend. They’re looking forward to sharing The Factory Theatre stage on the 18th along with other incredible local bands all competing to get to the Emergenza finals. Be there!
