The Childlike Vibe of THE CHILDREN OF THE NEW FOREST

This Melbourne band mixes a childlike fancy and a folksy approach into mature songs that we can all relate to

The Children of the New Forest are raw, loud, joyful, emotive, and full of great melody and song structure: the perfect formula for creating the ultimate stage performance, and it was noted by the fans that came out for the eliminatory round in Melbourne. Even though it was their first live show as a band, they managed to woo their audience with their almost childlike, folksy approach and they breezed right on through to the semi-finals. They next hit the stage on the 17th of October, so be sure to head down to The Espy to see them on the big night. In terms of their sound? Well, their influences include bands like Ryan Adams, Elliot Smith, and Kings of Leon, but they have their own take, which creates for dynamic, easily to follow, and easily relatable folk pop songs.

For now, you can hear rough versions of quite a few of their original songs on their Soundcloud, but since their last show, they’ve been practicing and recording more demos. They say look out for a new version of “MIA”, one of the songs that was most popular with their Emergenza audience at the first round. This one is a slower, emotional song with a theme we can all relate to: losing our way and finally finding a place where we belong. Come find them at The Espy on the 17th. They’ll make you feel right at home.
