The last thing that Sonic Milf Castle wants to do is be pigeonholed, so they leave it open, calling themselves, simply, alt rock. They say they’ve got a surprisingly big sound for a three-piece band: “the vocals are violent yowls wrapped around lyrics dripping with filthy teenage angst. The scratchy and at times percussive strumming of the guitar overlays juicy, funky bass licks and fresh beats, which all combine to form a sound which ranges from sleazy metal to laid-back indie rock.” All this you can hear in their original songs “Raven” as well as “Mink”, both found on their EP The Milf Rises.
"Mink" they consider a testament to the band’s musical prowess. It breaks down almost completely at one point into sparse pinging on the electric guitar, with just basic bass and kick drum for support; then it’s the bass that shines for a solid thirty seconds before the drums kick into a classic swing groove that brings the song back into its former rhythm. Don’t miss out on your next chance to see this incredible band when they play live at The Espy for the semi-finals on the 16th of October.
