Poppy, cute, and nasty, all working together. What could be better, really? Well, probably all that in a live rock performance. Melbourne band Poppy has already breezed through the first round of the Emergenza festival and are now looking forward to hitting a bigger stage where they will have more room to bounce their sound around. Their next chance will be at The Espy for the semi-finals on the 19th this month. Don’t miss out. FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND POPPY?
POPPY is joined by some lovely friends, who happen to be super-talented musicians, for many play dates on stage! Bringing a cute little mixture of everything really!

WHAT ABOUT YOUR NAME EPITOMIZES THE BAND?
The name was never meant to match... I don’t like putting labels on things, as it starts to get a little uninteresting. I guess contrast... cute and nasty working together!

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
It may have been the smaller basement room, but it was pretty much packed! Such a good vibe!

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
Fun, filled, and loud!!! We have quite a large sound so we will be much more comfortable with a bit more space!

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
Feels exciting! Will be great to keep progressing…

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
Pretty much to win.... And hope we performed with another level of Poppy-ness!

Keep at it! Making sure everyone knows what’s happening at all times. We will be doing a couple teasers of what to expect at the show too... so watch out!
