For Kiddo, it was a privilege to play at such an iconic venue as The Espy in Melbourne, so you better believe they are going to make the most out of it when they have a second chance to play there, this time for the semi-finals. Be sure to come down to see them there on the 19th. They’re planning a killer show for you. Now, all they need to do is round up the rest of the members of the band from Germany. They say they’re on a tour for “dance”, but my bet is they’re already scoping out the venue for the international finals…

CAN YOU GIVE US A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE SOUND OF KIDDO?
Kiddo is the result of 18 years of siblings jamming together and eventually deciding to make something more of it. Our influences vary widely from Bob Dylan and Alice Cooper to Mumford & Sons and AC/DC.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The highlight from the first round was definitely playing at an iconic venue like The Espy.

WHICH ONE OF YOUR SONGS DO YOU FEEL SPEAKS TO THE FANS AND REPRESENTS THE BAND THE BEST?
I would have to say “Blue Sky”. It was the first song that got a lot of people onto our music and really kicked us off.

UP TO THIS POINT, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE BAND'S BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?
It's really hard to say. We have our own home recording studio, so finally being able to write and record music without leaving the house is a big thing for us. Actually having our own recordings is something we're really proud of.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAVE BEEN YOUR BIGGEST OBSTACLES SO FAR?
Our biggest obstacle so far is definitely being in different continents! Half of Kiddo is in Germany at the moment touring for dance so keeping in touch and in the loop music wise has been really difficult, but also rewarding.

HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
It feels really great to be able to play in the next round. Our ultimate goal is to play at The Hi-Fi, a venue where I've seen so many of my idols play. Having the chance to progress even further to that next step would be amazing.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
We hope to take more general experience from the next concert. Especially the new line-up. This will be the first Kiddo gig with my other sister Samantha joining the stage.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
The thing that really stuck out about Emergenza for me was the possibility of playing at The Hi-Fi. It's been a dream for me for a long time to play there so hopefully we make it.
