    Connecting with T-RHYTHM

T-Rhythm gives us the low down on his journey through the first round and now on to the semi-finals at The Espy in Melbourne

T-Rhythm and his band of brothers keep it real both off and on the stage. He says communication is key to keeping the bond strong between the performers. He feeds off of the positivity of connecting with his fans and will take any opportunity to garner new ones. You can’t miss out on your next chance to see him play at The Espy, this time for the semi-finals of the Emergenza Festival. Before the show, he takes a moment to talk to us about his journey with Emergenza so far.

CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHO T-RHYTHM IS AS A PERFORMER?

Hmmmm… guess it’s a different perception when your on stage, but we can safely say that we are a family unit, brothers in arms fighting together. Off stage we keep the bond strong with leisure activities, get-togethers with communication among us being the key to our bond. Our chemistry on stage when we perform is like no other, most times we improvise and try different things when we perform. Haha… just ‘WING IT’ is the usual term onstage and it hasn’t failed us yet…

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?

The reaction we received from our original material. Since we had to play an all-original set and especially our original songs being unheard and unreleased, it seems they were received well by not only our supporters that were there but those that have never heard us before. Humbling feeling.

WHICH ONE OF YOUR SONGS DO YOU FEEL SPEAKS TO THE FANS AND REPRESENTS YOU THE BEST?

“Reminiscin’”. This song gets the most reaction from the crowd, and it has everything: harmonic melodies to serenade you, infectious beat coming through wit a phat base line too, a lil’ something your body will wanna move to.

UP TO THIS POINT, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Ranking #1 on the Reverbnation Reggae Charts for Melbourne and Ranking at #8 (Top 10) nationally in Australia.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAVE BEEN YOUR BIGGEST OBSTACLES SO FAR?

Hmmm… nothing seems to faze us at all and can’t think of any actual obstacles. The journey so far has been a true blessing and we are grateful for all the love and support that has been thrown our way.

HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?

Feels awesome, but it’s still in the early stages of the comp. It’s that nervous yet excited feeling.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?

We hope to meet new people and make new connections with musicians, event organisers and especially the people coming to the shows. Our hope is that they walk away from the night remembering our name and hopefully our songs stuck in their heads… hehe.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?

We have only competed in one other band comp and that was a local comp back in 2010. Back then the goal was to introduce ourselves to a new crowd in attempt to grow our fan base. And since then we believe we have achieved that goal and through it we were blessed with a residency and helped us get noticed by promoters which started our run of support shows over the years and never felt the need to enter any other comps. When Emergenza came past us, we thought this would be an awesome opportunity to pursue the same goal above, not only on a national level, but God-willing, an international platform for us to showcase our music.
