Connecting with THE AMBIENCE OF RAIN

Emergenza takes time to understand more about this ambient rock band in the days leading up to their semi-final gig at The Espy in Melbourne

It’s not just background music that comes out of this Melbourne band who puts the word ambience in their name. The Ambience of Rain puts out big sounds, which allow them to connect deeply with their crowds. They really fed off of the energy of the large crowd during round one at The Espy and are now geared up for the semi-finals. Be sure to check them out there on the 17th this month. In the meantime, you can hear what they have to say about their journey with Emergenza thus far.

FOR THOSE WHO MISSED OUT ON YOUR ROUND ONE SHOW, CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT WHO AMBIENCE OF RAIN ARE?

The Ambience of Rain are a progressive rock band that bring big sounds and whooing melodies.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?

Playing to an audience that enjoyed our music and were keen to hear more. Also playing to a large crowd.

WHICH ONE OF YOUR SONGS DO YOU FEEL SPEAKS TO THE FANS AND REPRESENTS THE BAND THE BEST?

Hard question to answer. “Far and Wide” (our closing song) speaks to the fans and gets them involved, but there are a number of songs that we think represent the band.

UP TO THIS POINT, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE BAND'S BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Just playing to big crowds and seeing their reaction and seeing how much people interact with us.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAVE BEEN YOUR BIGGEST OBSTACLES SO FAR?

Trying to organize a five-piece band and have weekly rehearsals.

HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?

Feels really great to be playing these bigger gigs at a great venue and hoping to get further and play at The Hi-Fi.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?

Another high-energy gig that hopefully the fans love.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?

The privilege to play at such amazing Melbourne venues, play to big crowds, and the chance to further our career as a band.
