    Picking Apart ELEMENTAL BURN

Emergenza gets to know this Melbourne hard rock band a little better before their semi-final show at The Espy on the 17th

This female fronted hard rock band from Melbourne is inspired by big acts like Skunk Anansie and Metallica, and they’re hoping they can have the same effect on stage for their new fans as those big guys do. Pumped up by the applause when it was announced that they made it through the next round, this band is totally geared up for giving the semi-finals their all, so don’t miss out on your chance to see them play at The Espy on the 17th. In the meantime, you can hear all about their experience, in their own words.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND ELEMENTAL BURN?

We are a female fronted heavy rock band from the outer suburbs of Melbourne. We have been around gigging for about six years and are influenced by bands from Metallica, Pink Floyd, and Tool, to Skunk Anansie and heaps more.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?

I think the highlight for us was hearing the big cheer from the crowd after it was announced we were getting through to the next round.

OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?

Our song “Reasons” got the biggest reaction, I think mainly because of the punchy aggressive groove. It's a great song to jump around to.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?

The first was a fun, smooth night. It was great to hear bands that you usually wouldn’t have the chance to listen to. The thing we learnt was to make a big impact with our set.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?

It's exciting to think about playing on bigger stages, with bigger and diversified crowds.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?

We are really keen to put on a great show and to try to impress ourselves on as many people as we can.

HOW ARE YOU PLANNING TO PROMOTE FOR YOUR UPCOMING GIG?

We are doing a Facebook event and asking friends and family to post about us on their Facebook pages, a lot of work of mouth, and we will put up some posters where we work and where the band practices.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?

We were drawn to Emergenza by its great reputation and a chance to gather some exposure from both at home and internationally.
