The name of this band sums up their almost childlike, primitive approach to instrumentation and performance. They’re loud, joyful, emotive and full of great melody, which is probably the reason why they made it through to the semi-finals even though round one was their first gig ever as a full band! CAN YOU BRIEFLY INTRODUCE US TO THE CHILDREN OF THE NEW FOREST?
There’s four of us. We’ve only played one gig, which was the first round, but we had about 60 friends turn up, and that was very humbling. Me and Brook have been jamming together for years but with him on drums mainly.

WHAT ABOUT THE NAME OF THE BAND EPITOMIZES YOUR SOUND?
The sound is quite childlike and primitive in the sense of loud drums and emotive, joyful, synthy good licks....

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The highlight was just being there and playing songs I wrote, that people seemed to respond really well to, along with three other mates that I love in a full band format.

OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
Probably “MIA”, because a few knew the lyrics and it’s an emotional song.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
It’s good to play the second round. In the meantime we've practiced and recorded some excellent and expansive demos.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
Hope to take away lessons on how to perform and what to improve and also the experience of playing in a real venue.

HOW ARE YOU PLANNING TO PROMOTE FOR YOUR UPCOMING GIG?
We are just telling our pals again. Word of mouth. And hopefully putting up a demo of “MIA” in its current form in the next two weeks.
