The Big Dreams of FOR THE MOST PART

Melbourne band For the Most Part is looking forward to an epic performance a The Espy on the 17th for the semi-finals, and before the show, they take the time to answer a few of our questions

Between releasing several singles and working on their upcoming EP, somehow this epic rock band from Melbourne finds the time in their schedule to prepare for their next gig at The Espy for the semi-finals. They’re hoping to feed off of the energy from round one in order to put on a show way more epic and spectacular than the last. So, you better be there. In the meantime, you can hear, directly from the band, their thoughts on their journey so far with Emergenza.

CAN YOU GIVE US A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE BAND FOR THE MOST PART?

For the Most Part are a five-piece epic rock band, whose quest to take over the world all started around 2010 in the Frankston scene. Now, after having released two singles, they’re taking on bigger and better gigs with their sights set on releasing an EP next year.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?

Hearing the sweet, sweet sound of the words “For the Most Part” fly from the mouth of the M.C. at the end of the night, revealing that we had made it through to the second round.

WHICH ONE OF YOUR SONGS DO YOU FEEL SPEAKS TO THE FANS AND REPRESENTS THE BAND THE BEST?

“Fragile” (available on YouTube, Triple J Unearthed and Facebook). This song means a lot to each band member in a different way. It is also our way of telling our fans, family and friends that no matter what life throws at them, everything will be okay.

UP TO THIS POINT, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE BAND'S BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Going from playing the smallest gigs in the Frankston scene, using half-demolished shops as a venue, to placing in some of the biggest battle of the bands that Melbourne has to offer.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAVE BEEN YOUR BIGGEST OBSTACLES SO FAR?

Ticket sales; people don't realise how much bands, like the ones playing at these shows, rely on each and every one of them. Without the support of the awesome fans, friends and family, putting together and playing in great events like this wouldn't be possible.

HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?

Amazing! It's really surreal starting off writing and scrapping songs years ago in our houses and local practice studios, to playing the songs we're proud of in front of an audience and other bands that enjoy it as much as we do.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?

Given the show we're going to put together, we would be grateful to walk away with our instruments intact.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?

The huge name behind the event. We've had bad experiences with other smaller companies, and to play at a well organised, full-on battle like this one has been a great experience. Alongside playing these shows, all the promotions and help the crew provides has been the best.
