    Small Talk with CHRIS WATTS

Melbourne artist Chris Watts lets us in on his impressions of how the first round went and what he’s looking forward to most about the semi-finals on the 16th

Chris Watts, once again, keeps it short and sweet for us at Emergenza. In a pre-show chat, before he goes onstage with his band for the semi-finals at the Espy in Melbourne, he gives us his brief impressions on how it’s going so far on his Emergenza journey.

CAN YOU GIVE US A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO YOUR SOUND?

    Indie, pop & easy listening.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?

Playing some of the new material for the first time down in the Espy Basement.

WHICH ONE OF YOUR SONGS DO YOU FEEL SPEAKS TO THE FANS AND REPRESENTS THE BAND THE BEST?

Our last song “Taste”. We always play it last because we want to leave the audience with a more up beat song.

UP TO THIS POINT, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE BAND'S BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Our biggest accomplishment is still our drive to want to do better and play better. We never get lazy or get tired of our set.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAVE BEEN YOUR BIGGEST OBSTACLES SO FAR?

Bringing in the crowds to every gig. We always want our fans to be there but we can’t expect them to come every week.

HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?

We are very excited to even have the opportunity to play on the Gershwin stage at the Espy, let alone be in the running for the HI-FI.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?

We hope to make the next round and give our fans a good fresh set.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?

The opportunity to play on some good Melbourne stages along with the reputable name of the festival.
