This four-piece band hailing from Newcastle takes on a positive attitude when it comes to the upcoming semi-finals of the Emergenza Festival in Sydney. They’re so stoked about the possibility of being sent abroad to play at a huge open air festival with bands the likes of Iggy and the Stooges, that they say to themselves, “What do we have to lose?” They plan to put their all in their next concert at The Factory Theatre in Sydney on the 19th of October, so don’t miss out on your chance to see them then. Before the show, they take the time to answer a few of our questions.
CAN YOU GIVE US A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE BAND?
We're a four-piece Newcastle band that drink cheap beer and don't like hipsters. We have been together for two years, and are halfway through an EP with an independent tour on the horizons and no foreseeable stop to our noise.
WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The highlight of the first round was breaking the boys from one of the other bands out of a fight preshow.
WHICH ONE OF YOUR SONGS DO YOU FEEL SPEAKS TO THE FANS AND REPRESENTS THE BAND THE BEST?
Probably “Juice”. We've all had a friend that's underestimated their worth or have been that friend and haven't realised until reflection.
UP TO THIS POINT, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE BAND'S BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?
Having gone two years without turning into money-hungry scumbags.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAVE BEEN YOUR BIGGEST OBSTACLES SO FAR?
That we're all incredibly poor, but derive so much passion and drive from our idols’ legacies and spectacular music that we can't give it up.
HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
We're totally stoked. Any step closer to the legendary Iggy Pop and The Stooges is ok with us.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
Pure experience. Stoked to watch some sick gigs and hopefully play one too.
WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
An international festival with a chance of playing with Iggy And The Stooges? What do we have to lose?
