Kid Sidney
Kid Sidney is a seven piece all girl band from Melbourne, not Sydney! They opened the night at The Espy Basement and delivered a fine set. The girls brought a large fan base to the show and instantly pleased with their opening song! Kid Sidney’s second song of the set was a real highlight with its up tempo style followed by a new track which they delivered flawlessly. Kid Sidney have a real confidence and swagger to them, from their energy on stage, to their matching dress style. The band started off a little shaky, but by the time they went into ‘Escape Reality,’ which featured some nice trippy
keyboards, their confidence was going through the roof and really added to a great performance! Well done Kid Sidney!
Inside Reality
Inside Reality was the second act for the night and they also consisted of some underage members. The boys played a set of hard rock driven tunes that got the amps well and truly warmed up! From opener ‘Enough is enough’ the boys played their heart out and front man Tom sung with real emotion. They finished just as they were getting the crowd jumping which was a good way to finish their set!
Cornerstone
Cornerstone showed off their experience as soon as they hit the stage! One of the most polished band sounds of the night! The boys played solid rock tracks with great melody! Lead singer Shane had a great voice while holding down the bass duties and setting some nice grooves. In third song ‘Walk Away’ the vocal s swapped to Lou on guitar in a song that was more of a ballad style tune. The set really cranked up in fourth song ‘Love is Mud’ which had a killer opening lick from Lou! Last song ‘As You Were’ was a highlight of the set and really showed off all of the band. This was the bands tightest song and featured tasty drums from Tony and a killer guitar solo from Peter in the middle. A rocking set from Cornerstone!
Shadows at Bay
Shadows at Bay were the heaviest band of the night delivering a punch straight to the face with their first song ‘Come Undone!’ Third song ‘So Alive’ was an absolute highlight of the set with its bass driven melody played by Clint that was reminiscent of the band ‘Tool!’ It then went into some seriously sweet double kick beats played by Matt on the drums. In fact Matt was one of the finest drummers we have seen this season, displaying some excellent cymbal work in song ‘Can’t Save Your Life.’ Shadows at Bay seemed to get better as their set went on and exuded more and more confidence in their songs. Thanks for your set Shadows at Bay!
Royalty Noise
Royalty Noise is a really tight band that delivered our first rap set of the season! These guys were so polished and the eight piece got their loyal fans grooving instantly! A band that consisted of drums, bass, DJ, brass and 2 MC’s! They played a mix of hip hop, rap and dance tracks that were a real treat to finish the night with!
