Round Two with the GOOD GRIEFS

Sydney band Good Griefs are looking forward to their showing at the Emergenza semi-finals, and in the meantime share their insight on round one

The one thing that motivates Sydney band the Good Griefs the most is their audience. They do their best to break down the barrier between the band and the audience as much as possible, so a live show is engaging as possible. Don’t miss your chance to come down and support them for the appearance at the Emergenza semi-finals at The Factory Theatre in Sydney on the 19th. Before the show, they let us in on what inspires them and what they’re doing to get ready for the show.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T SEE YOUR FIRST ROUND CONCERT, CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT WHO THE GOOD GRIEFS ARE?
The Good Griefs are an alternative rock band from Sydney, Australia made up of four members: Jack O'Neale, Ben Grover, Alec Finley and Lee Moore.

WHAT’S A LIVE GOOD GRIEFS SHOW LIKE?

A Good Griefs show is predominantly full of energy. The band tries to break down the barrier between the audience and the band through the music.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?

The highlight of the first round would be seeing such an energetic crowd in front of us. It was the best motivation for us to play.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
The gig at The Lair proved to be a massive experience for all of us. We learnt a lot about the preparation that goes into performances. We figured early on that organisation and practice was key.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?

To be one step closer to the Emergenza finals feels amazing, however, we're not taking it for granted and becoming complacent. It is, after all, only ONE step towards winning.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
We've spent the time in between gigs mainly just mentally preparing. We realize that the next round is a lot more difficult. To get through, we'll have to be well rehearsed, and very organised.

HOW ARE YOU PLANNING TO PROMOTE FOR YOUR UPCOMING GIG?

Push it out to as many people as we can.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST ABOUT THIS ROUND IN THE SEMI-FINALS?

Merely playing in front of people on such an amazing stage.
