This Sydney band has a positive attitude about performing and benefiting from the friendly atmosphere of the Emergenza semi-finals. They look forward to playing alongside the other fantastic locals bands during this phase of the festival, and are taking time out from the studio, where they’re recording their upcoming EP, just to rehearse for the semi-finals. Somehow between the studio and rehearsals they found time to sit down with Emergenza and share a few words.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT WHO THE FIXATORS ARE?
The Fixators are a cacophony of ambient guitars, killer bass riffs and powerful vocals, the likes of which the world has never seen.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU TO PERFORM LIVE?
Performing live is the most fun and fulfilling experience a musician or band can have, provided there’s a good audience of course, and Emergenza just fits the bill perfectly.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The highlight of the first round was when our drummer dropped one of his sticks halfway through a song and didn't have a spare. That was interesting, but we made it through with much applause from the crowd.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
The first round was a heck of a lot of fun but we definitely need to step up our game to compete with the fantastic bands that will be playing with us in the next round.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
It feels great to be part of such a great competition, and being that little bit closer to the finals is just incredible.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
We've actually been in the studio most of the time since the first round of the comp recording our second EP Colourblind, but you better believe we'll be working our asses off for the next month in preparation for the semi-finals!

HOW ARE YOU PLANNING TO PROMOTE FOR YOUR UPCOMING GIG?
In terms of promotion we were thinking of spamming everyone we know until they agree to come. Also we'll be out on the streets getting our name and the gig out there to people who are yet to hear our music.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST ABOUT THIS ROUND IN THE SEMI-FINALS?
We're looking forward to just being a part of the competition and playing with some great bands.
