As usual, we weren’t able to pin down these three guys and a girl to get any straight answers out of them. We’ve managed to gather that, due to their newfound algebraic skills, they may be able to calculate the best route for parachuting into their next gig at The Factory Theatre. Otherwise, they’ll just take the side entrance. But we’re not even sure if they’ll take the stage. There’s a high possibility that they just eat the party pies and skip out of the venue before anyone takes too much notice of them. Here’s our attempt to understand them better:
FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT WHO THE DRAWING CLASS ARE?
We're three guys and a girl. We play instruments as part of our performance. We like dogs. We drink beer. We all have difficulties navigating bra straps.
WHAT’S YOUR APPROACH TO YOUR ONSTAGE PERFORMANCES?
We usually try to go up the side of the stage, I mean, unless we have to parachute in or something, which we admit is often problematic.
WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
Our bassist's haircut.
CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
We really enjoyed playing at our first performance and we feel like we learnt lots of things, especially lots of stuff about algebra, but that mostly came from talking to this really clever guy at the bar after our set.
SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
It feels kind of exciting, like the first time my uncle took me hunting and we accidentally killed a guy in the forest and my uncle told me never to talk about it ever again. That's kind of how it feels.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
We've been up to a lot actually. We've played a couple of gigs to an almost empty room, which is fun because it's cheaper than paying for a studio. We've been preparing for the next phase of the competition by attempting to eat 120 eggs a week but this has lead to a number of band members developing heart problems, but we should be fine for the night as long as there is a defibrillator on hand.
HOW ARE YOU PLANNING TO PROMOTE FOR YOUR UPCOMING GIG?
We had planned to purchase a billboard near the airport to try and attract the attention of people new to Australia, however our artwork was rejected due to “obscene levels of nudity around livestock”, so I think we're just going to hit up people on Facebook.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST ABOUT THIS ROUND IN THE SEMI-FINALS?
We heard that there will be party pies. Are there actually going to be party pies? We're starving!
