Four Men and a Girl: THE BRINKSMEN

Family band from Melbourne, The Brinksmen, mix up a love of vocal harmony and classic rock instrumentation to come up with their distinct brand of pop rock

Melbourne band THE BRINKSMEN started writing their original material about four years ago and have since blossomed into the well-rounded act that they are today. And, contrary to the name, THE BRINKSMEN are not all men. Baby sis joined the band after a few years of the brothers jamming together, and now this family band has the full package: bass, guitar, drums, two keyboards, and several vocalists, which all help to fill out their classically stacked vocal harmonies. Imagine vocals inspired by Chris Isaak with guitar pulled out of Dire Straits, with perhaps a little Mama’s and Papa’s thrown in the mix.

Particularly in their song “Drive”, which you can stream on their Triple J page, there’s a real “California Dreamin’” feel to the hook and an over all sombre tone, which speaks to the real depth of this band. They’re really geared up to showcase their new formula and unique sound for their audience at the Epsy on the 22nd, so don’t miss your chance to see THE BRINKSMEN then.
