SHADOWS AT BAY Mix Post Grunge with Dark Synth Sounds

This Melbourne band to showcase their unique, cross genre rock at the Epsy on the 20th

This local Melbourne band claim the influences of Silverchair, The White Room, and Nirvana. The guitar tone could indisputably be pulled from any one of those bands, but they have a distinctly more melodic approach, often backed up by epic sounding synth, inspired by the darkest part of the 80’s, but always with the modern gut-driven energy of the post grunge genre. They’ve got a few singles up on their Triple J for free streaming. Among them is “I Can’t Save Your Life” a vision of the dog-eat-dog nature of an apocalyptic world, burning down all around the protagonist.

On their softer side, there’s “Damaged Hearts”, which features a dynamic play between slower, quieter passages, and a huge build up, where the singer’s voice is accompanied by distant screaming, driving the melancholic, melodic theme home. This song is part of their self-titled 2011 demo, along with “Lies”. On their MySpace, you can stream four other original songs, which should get you guys pumped for their live show at the Epsy on the 20th. You can’t miss out on your chance to see SHADOWS AT BAY.
