All hailing from well-established rock cover bands, the musicians in Cornerstone are like encyclopaedias of rock music history. And it comes out in their song writing. Each song is well structured, with lyrics and melodies that will stick in your head, well balanced out by their classic rock instrumental accompaniment. Their single “Don’t Walk Away” is a perfect example. The walking baseline and moan of blues guitar open the door for the singer, who comes in with a very 80’s inspired vocal tone, singing dark lyrics, inspired by catastrophe of war: “brothers in arms, I spill my blood if you spill yours, you know I’d do anything for the cause.” Another single of theirs is “Love is Mad” which starts off with a heavier riff, and grinds forward with gritty lyrics about the bitterness of love. But if you only have a short time to dedicate, “Never Let U Go” is their go to single. The melody in this song alone will have you wondering why no one’s discovered their song writing talents just yet.
