This seven-piece band of social dissenters has no fear mixing jazz, reggae, soul, and rock steady, which truthfully reflects their diverse backgrounds and inspirations, instead of falsely attaching them to a pre-existing genre. As their biography states, “These band members bring their Jamaican, Ghanaian and Australian heritage together to create music which evokes 70’s Jamaican protest music and empathy for the under dog.” Their twelve-track debut album Soul of the Nation was released in May of this year, and epitomizes the band’s social-activism vibe. One of the songs has a video follow up, which you can stream on their YouTube channel.
Set in the streets of the city, and showing the typical way of street-life in the area, the band sets themselves below the level of the listener, pleading, inspiring and moving the listener to stand up and give back the love to the common people. For now you can check them out on their own personal website, YouTube, as well as Sonicbids.com. But, August 29th of this month, you’ll have your chance to see them live. Don’t miss out.
