Akumas Kinder showcase their passion for music and talent in executing it.

A metal band whose vocal and instrumental range transcend the genre and appeal to anyone who likes good music … loud.

Showcasing a more ‘angry’ side of the metal genre, Akumas Kinder are a four piece from Sydney, looking to make a name for the themselves. So far, they’re definitely off to a good start – their name is quite unique, original, the kind of thing that sticks with people. It intrigued me so much that I actually put a few moments of research into finding out exactly what it meant... sadly I came up with nothing. Perhaps we’ll need to ask them in our upcoming interview! It seems however, that the music speaks quite well for itself, and the name isn’t needed as an attention getting gimmick – perhaps more as the glue that helps it stick the audience’s mind.

Once again I’m a little fooled by the ‘metal’ description because while the singer does incorporate a growl-like vocal into the songs, it’s not his only means of expression and additionally, even the lyrics which are growled are easily understood. His true talent however, IMHO is when he sings. Marcus has a very strong and melodic vocal, which does not falter even when it immediately follows a more vocally challenging piece in the song. The two songs which the band has online have placed first and second respectively on triplejunearthed – the popular online forum for up & coming bands. Verstehen is my preference among the two, likely because of its instrumental intro which allows the musicians to show off their talent and the melodic sound of the singers voice in the first verse.

Akumas Kinder has a few shows lined up for the next few months, not the least of which will be on July 7th at the Lair @ Metro where the guys will be taking part in the Emergenza Festival – the international battle of the bands which offers the opportunity for one band to travel to Germany for the event’s International outdoor show. Perhaps someone there can tell us what Akumas Kinder means?
