Chronic will not disappoint with their music, no matter how many times you listen to them.

Uniting so many niches within the metal genre, Chronic are a powerful force when it comes to their instrumental music as well as lyrics.

As often is the case among up & coming bands, Chronic recently underwent a slight line-up change, which has brought them a drummer whom they credit with taking their music in a more mature and powerful direction. The five musicians work well together, something that is obvious in their stage performance which is well coordinated and during which they seem to be almost choreographed, but equally so in their music. While they describe themselves as metal, the influences of some lighter genres are evident in particular during the instrumental interludes.

By far, the most ‘metal’ thing about these guys is their hair and their vocal. The singer is able to execute the metal ‘growl’ without much effort (or so it seems) and the musicians follow suit with music that is at its core metal, but has many undertones that bring the beats down a few notches from what you expect from a ‘typical’ metal band. What this does for them – successfully I would say – is broaden their appeal among fans. Not everyone is a die-hard blaring guitars & double kick pedal fan, and these guys’ music seems to be just light enough to accommodate even those discerning individuals.

Originally from Nepal, these guys now call Sydney their home and their band has graced the stage during many local events in the city. While they are now working hard at recording their debut EP, they have not put playing live on the back burner, by any means. In fact, the guys are taking on one of the world’s biggest events for up & coming bands – the Emergenza International Music Festival. They will be on stage on July 7th at the Lair @ Metro as part of this event, and will be competing with other bands for a chance to play in the festival’s semi-final round.
