Venturing in the Desert with Tusk

This band puts the Brisbane spin on California desert and blues grooves

Tusk says they’ve got a wildly distorted blues and desert rock feel. And there’s no arguing with that. You can hear the influence of bands like Queens of the Stone Age on their sound, big time. But, these guys are no copy-artists. They’ve actually got their own thing going on. So far, this Brisbane band just has one demo track entitled S.A.D. (Shut-Up And Dance) out of GFlat Studios, otherwise known as the flat of the guitarist’s granny. The track starts off with fuzz guitar, cool, walking bass, and all kinds of scratchy background sounds. Then the hard, husky vocals kick in. With the lyrics and phrasing, the vocals add a solid structure to an otherwise simplistic blues chord progression. They are sure to light the stage on fire with their stoner blues mix. So, be sure to get your arses down to X&Y Bar on June 30th to see them rock the 1st step of the competition.
