With a new album released just this year, Domino has already been receiving lots of positive buzz in the Australian press. The band has been together since 2004 and in various incarnations has always been playing the kind of music that makes them, and their fans happy. With the lovely Erica at the vocal lead of the band, Domino has been playing their music for crowds across the music scene and delighting them each time. Their specific brand of metal/prog rock is a genre that transcends time and is resembling of bands such as Led Zepplin.

These talented musicians each bring something special to the stage, be it the layering of guitar sounds, a tight rhythm section or the operic vocal of the lead singer. I find having a female vocalist always adds a dimension of allure to a band, and this seems to prove true with Domino as well. The attention shifts between the vocalist and the instrumental pieces, of which there is no shortage. For instance, Here in the Sky where Erica has her moments ‘in the spotlight’ but which are interlaced with instrumental segways – consistent with the prog rock genre.

Domino is currently all over the promotion for the upcoming show on July 6th at the Lair @ Metro. They will be playing alongside several other bands during this first round show of the Emergenza Live Music Festival. As part of their promotional efforst, Domino not only have a well maintained Facebook band page (with a whooping 750+ fans!) but they will also be making available work shirts bearing their band name. Should they move on, fans will be able to see them again in a few months, as they continue their journey through this international battle of the bands. Don’t miss the show if you’re around!
