Branding themselves as the hypothetical children of some very famous musical talent, Rufflefeather is an alternative/psych group from Sydney. The boys have been playing together for just over two years and have so far amassed a fair amount of success which includes a number recorded songs as well as performances in some of the city’s most celebrated venues. This foursome write and record all of their original music and have recently released their debut album – Misanthropy. To support the release of this CD, the guys have played a number of shows and really made the effort to get their stuff out there.

In addition to having band profiles on all the ‘usual suspect’ social media portals, Rufflefeather also recently launched their own webpage where fans can catch up and keep up with band news in addition to purchasing their debut album and even a rad band T-shirt! Using a wide range of effects and accentuating just the right moments in their arrangements, Rufflefeather plays a style of music that is alternative, but encompasses many elements of Rock. Their song The Cute One for instance – with it’s instrumental intro and almost acoustic feel spans across many musical styles. The vocalist has a voice and style reminiscent of many a successful artist.

In hopes of getting their band name out to even more people – and hopefully across the ocean – Rufflefeather has recently signed on with the Emergenza Music Festival, the international band competition which offers them the possibility of flying to Germany to perform at the event’s international outdoor festival. You can see their first performance in the event on July 6th as they take to the stage at the Lair @ Metro to set this wheels in motion for this endeavour.
