This Melbourne band are pure rock and roll and are guaranteed to get the audience pumped with their super high-energy stage performances. They’ve got great, groovy guitar tone and a funkiness to their sound that is all their own. They’re getting ready to unleash their artillery of original tunes at the Epsy on Sunday, but before the show they sit down with Emergenza to let us in on what sets them apart from other bands in the festival and what their future may hold.

CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT THE FORMATION OF YOUR BAND?
We are a band of brothers, Steve and Damian Nugent and Tim and Damo Boult, with the same love of full-blooded rock ‘n’ roll music. From the first jam session we knew this line up would be able to go all the way to the top.

WHERE DO YOU GET INSPIRATION FOR YOUR SOUND?
We get our inspiration from music that has real attitude, groove and swagger. From Little Richard to Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith to AC/DC, The Doors to Deep Purple. We take the best rock ‘n’ roll has to offer and give you Nikhail.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME NIKHAIL?
The guitarist (Damian) was inspired by graffiti on a school desk. There is no other real story or meaning behind the name… but we've decided to give the name meaning.

WHERE HAVE YOU GUYS PLAYED BEFORE AND WHAT IS YOUR DREAM GIG?
We play all main Melbourne Venues- Espy, Corner Hotel, Revolver, Northcote Social Club, Evelyn, Empress, Musicland just to name a few. 
The main stage of a big festival in front of tens of thousands of die-hard fans- that's where we feel we belong and would thrive!

WHAT MADE YOU JOIN EMERGENZA?
We are currently rock 'n' roll's best-kept secret. Emergenza will give us the chance to expose ourselves to a larger audience and show the whole world what we've got.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST ABOUT THE FESTIVAL?
Doing what we do best, giving Melbourne and Australia the best rock 'n' roll has to offer. Then taking on Europe with Emergenza is next!

WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL SET YOU APART FROM THE OTHER BANDS?
No one is as rock ‘n’ roll as Nikhail. Our sound, our attitude and our performance as a band are unequaled.
