GETTING DIRTY WITH SINCE WE KISSED

This folk-punk trio from Melbourne makes us laugh all the way through their pre-show interview

Sinced We Kissed lays it all on the line, letting us know how they met, and who kissed who in order to come up with their catchy name. They’re a hard-working trio of musicians who have paid their dues busking on the streets and are now ready to rock you out in a somewhat less hostile environment. Don’t miss the chance to see them at the Epsy on the 22nd. You won’t regret it.

CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT HOW YOU CAME TOGETHER AS MUSICIANS?

Whilst Prairie was busking, she met onlooker Lance. They then jammed together and begun playing as a duo. Recently the pair were busking on Sydney road when Alex walked past. His friend mentioned that Alex was a drummer and they became a trio.

WHERE HAVE YOU PLAYED TOGETHER IN THE PAST?

They recently did a residency at the Espy and already have done a bunch of shows at the Evelyn, Bar 161 and Noise Bar.

WHO KISSED WHOM IN ORDER TO COME UP WITH THE NAME?

Prairie and Lance decided it would be a great idea to make out in the shower fully clothed whilst under the influence of something beautiful. They then had a massive argument about it, and decided that “Since We Kissed” everything’s messed up.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC FOR THOSE WHO HAVE YET TO HEAR YOU?

It’s something that you can dance to and feel emotionally connected to at the same time. We write with honesty and tell stories through our music that people can relate too.

YOU GUYS HAVE A GREAT WEBSITE. WHAT ROLE DO YOU THINK IT PLAYS FOR YOU AS A BAND?

Prairie’s awesome brother made it. It is a great way to show our personality and give people a sense our playful behaviour in terms of the colours and the silly background theme song called “Jazmin Et Cigarette”.
We are about to give it a makeover to launch our new EP “Kindly Take Your Clothes Off”. We have fantastic artwork done by Matthew Alford. Prairie’s mum said Matthew even managed to make Lance look “slightly handsome”.

WHAT MADE YOU JOIN EMERGENZA FESTIVAL?

We want to be huge, and rich and famous and support “The Wombats” and you guys seemed to the best way to achieve this goal.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT THE FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE?

To rock the fuck out of anybody we possibly can.
