LITTLE RED CLAUDIA to share their melancholic tale at the Epsy

This local Melbourne band spins long stories on anything from childhood abandonment to epic battles between man and beast, each with a tinge of melancholy

The evolution of this band is that from the guitarist’s solo project into a full-fledged creative mission, with the addition of 3 other band members, in a relatively short period of time. The vocalist is perhaps the element that has transformed the sound the most and helps to complete the Little Red picture. She fills every space with almost epic like lyrics based on everything from personal turmoil and abandonment to occupation of men by beasts. Underlying her vocals is a relatively classic grunge rock accompaniment, the guitar at times working with dark, electric bluesy riffs. Most of their songs are relatively slow and contemplative, allowing the stories to sink in for the listener. But ‘I Was There’ is a welcome deviation from this. This one has more of an upbeat, almost ska feel to it and is filled with nostalgia for a time when the singer was there and saw it all, and reflection on what has changed since then. ‘Goodbye’ is a strong one as well. There’s a nice slow, dark melody, and all in all it would be a great way to close their show at the Epsy on the 23rd. Be sure to come check them out.
