This young, positive band from Brisbane took the time to sit down with Emergenza and let us in on who they are and what they’ve got to bring to the table. They’ll rock your socks off at their killer live gig, and indulge your craving for pure rock and roll with their set of original songs inspired by class acts like Nirvana, the Sex Pistols and the Arctic Monkeys, among others. Come support them for their first live Emergenza gig, planned for the 12th of May at X&Y in Brisbane.

SO, WHAT MADE YOU GUYS CHOOSE EMERGENZA? WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT IT?
We chose to be a part of the Emergenza festival because it is a great opportunity for us to play live shows in some of Brisbane’s best venues. What we most like about the festival is that it gives unsigned bands who don't necessarily get the chance to play live an opportunity to do so.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN FROM THE FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE AND WHAT DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO THE MOST?
We hope to gain more fans and exposure so we can get our rocking tunes out to the crowd. We are mostly looking forward to playing to an audience who hasn't heard much of our music before. We will put everything into our performance to ensure everyone has an unforgettable Mother’s Day.

THE ONE SINGLE THAT YOU PUT OUT ON YOUR FACEBOOK BAND PAGE IS ‘EXPECTATIONS (OF A WANTED MAN)’. CAN YOU TELL US WHAT WE CAN EXPECT FROM TOTAL SETUP DURING YOUR LIVE SHOW?
We have been practicing, getting ourselves ready for the gig and tightening up for a face melting show. Our single ‘Expectations (of a Wanted Man)’ won't be the only highlight of our set, as we have worked on and mastered our other tracks, making a mean set for the crowd to enjoy. You can expect a strong interaction with the audience. We will deliver an energetic show with catchy lines, speedy guitar solos with pounding bass and drum lines.

I NOTICED THAT MOST OF YOUR MATERIAL IS LIVE FOR NOW. ARE YOU PLANNING TO SPEND SOME TIME IN THE STUDIO ANYTIME SOON?
Yes we are in current negotiations with a small independently owned studio. We are recording and releasing a new song in the coming weeks. We have added it to our set next month. We hopefully will get back to recording to release an EP in the next few months.

WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN GOALS FOR TOTAL SETUP?
To become a well established band internationally. We believe we have a unique sound that can break us onto the world stage and become a globally known band.

IN THE PAST, YOU GUYS HAVE DONE A FEW OLD-SCHOOL PUNK ROCK COVERS AT YOUR LIVE SHOWS. CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
We draw upon multiple bands for inspiration and influences. We all have individual influences that can be categorised in the rock genre. Matt's influences range from Kiss to Mötley Crüe, to The Ramones and My Chemical Romance. Darcy gets his influences from such bands as Nirvana, The Sex Pistols, Peppermint Creeps, Arctic Monkeys and Queens Of The Stone Age. Michael is heavily influenced by Guns N Roses and Metallica, although gets inspiration from Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium. Taylor's main influences are The Misfits, Slipknot and Slayer.
