Anchors of Tortuga show us what three guitars can do.

Mellow music combined with melodic harmonies provide the audience with a smooth light rock experience.

This guitar trio hailing from Sydney has been around for a few years and taken that time to grow into their style and their music. It’s always refreshing to see something different on stage, and I think that’s just what this band provides to their audiences. They will have this opportunity to stand out and set themselves apart as they take to the stage of the Lair @ Metro on May 19th for the first round of shows in Emergenza’s Sydney battle of the bands this season. On a night which will feature some mental, some hard rock, these guys will wow the crowds with their interchanging melodies and smooth harmonies.

Emergenza is a fitting way for us to meet this band, seeing as how they trace their origins to some battle of the band type events which the trio won back in 2011. They have continued playing music since then, and taken the next steps in their career by playing many of the local venues and events.

While one may notice the missing percussion, the bass guitar gives the music enough sounds, just low enough on the scale that it’s a negligible lack. This also opens the floor for showcasing just what these boys can do with their guitars and voices. The three guitars serve as a great melodic background to the vocal styling and harmonies. It seems that each instrument – including the vocal – is given its moment in the spotlight. Midnight Sun and Free are both great pieces which allow the musicians to show off their best.
