The description of “actually pretty decent” by the mysterious tastemaker James Caughlin, is perhaps unfair. All-in-all, I would say these guys are masters of their own sound and have a nice set of strong original songs.
Their Facebook, as of right now, emphasizes quality over quantity, with only 3 songs up. But out of those 3 songs, there isn’t one that will leave you disappointed.
In ‘The Prestige’, you get a killer drum roll that opens up this punky rocker. There’s something distinctly Californian in their sound, which at times recalls early AFI, although these guys may be too young to have listened to them. But the vocals are much more natural. The way the singer goes up into the falsetto range, at moments, is totally effortless.
There’s no doubt that these guys know their instruments. The guitar is always spot on, ranging from elaborate arpeggiation to punchy power chords where needed. These guys are sure to rock live, so be sure to come out and see them on May 13th at X&Y.
