I think the name speaks for itself. They describe themselves as a “goat in a china shop” and say they formed at the crossroads, referencing that pivotal moment in Robert Johnson’s career when he supposedly sold his soul to the devil. Obviously this band is in your face, edgy, and full of irony.
The influences they name are more than you can mention. But as chaotic as they pretend to be, this project actually has a pretty clear, perhaps somewhat unidentifiable, but certainly consistent, aesthetic.
Showcasing the ironic side of the band, they’ve written the song ‘Fuck Punk’ in hopes of setting the world record for the singing the word “fuck” the most times in a single song. But don’t let this be the sole image of the band.
Songs like ‘Shave the Grey’ show the more profound impact that this band can have when they try. The mix of bluesy, yet ethereal guitar, under-laid with strange unidentifiable quasi-vocal sounding effects, plus killer real vocals, make this song a stand out. Suddenly you get lyrics that are mature and even enlightened, opening up with “Who am I to say what’s right? Only you know your own path in this life.”
You’ll want to listen to that one again for sure, so why not come check them out live at X&Y on the 12th of May…
