Tiffany Britchford begins her journey with Emergenza

Female lead vocalist captures the essence of rock’n’roll

I recently had the opportunity to chat with Tiffany Britchford about her upcoming debut Emergenza performance at The Metro in Sydney. She will be hitting the stage on April 13th, ensuring a powerful vocal performance. Britchford is an incredibly talented and experienced musician, as she commands the stage with her spectacular vocal range. Being one of the few female participates in the Emergenza battle of the bands; Britchford uses this to give her an edge over other competitors. Come out and support this impressive contender at The Metro on April 13th!

SO, TELL ME, WHY EMERGENZA? WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THIS PARTICULAR BATTLE OF THE BANDS?
Emergenza Festival gives musicians a chance to play at some of the best local venues. I’ve seen many of my idols in the same venues, so I couldn’t resist the opportunity to play some stages I’ve always dreamed of playing! The big prizes sound pretty amazing too and I love that Emergenza supports independent music!

IT IS VERY RARE TO FIND A FEMALE SOLO ARTIST IN EMERGENZA FESTIVAL. HOW DO YOU PLAN TO USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE?
Anything that makes you different is always an advantage! I wrote and recorded my EP on my own and have now been playing those songs live with my band for the last few months. You don’t see too many ladies in rock these days. Hopefully this will bring us a little more attention but I still think our main strengths will be high quality songwriting and live performance.

WHERE DO YOU DRAW THE MOST INSPIRATION FOR YOUR MUSIC?
Real life experiences naturally inspire a lot of my songs, as well as a vast range of music, film, books and more. I play flute, keys and guitar as well as singing, so I am inspired by a huge range of genres including classical, pop, rock, metal, indie, electro and punk and I try to bring influences from each in different ways. I think the best music has lyrics with meaning, interesting melodies and takes you on a journey so I focus on achieving those things.

YOU SEEM TO REALLY KNOW HOW TO PUT YOUR NAME OUT THERE. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ARE THE KEYS TO PROMOTING MUSIC?
Music is my dream and passion, so I simply look for opportunities to have my music reach more and more people. I think that’s the key – taking it one step at a time, realizing it will take a while and just trying to keep things moving onwards. I’m still in the early days and have lots of big plans! I also think it’s essential to back up any promotion with brilliant live performances and be appreciative of your fans because they are the most important factor!

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUALMS AS YOU ENTER THE COMPETITION?
Not really – I just wish we could play longer!

WHAT DO YOU LOOK TO GET OUT OF YOUR PARTICIPATION WITH EMERGENZA?
I’m very excited to play on some amazing stages, in front of a great crowd and to meet some talented musicians! I hope to impress the audience and judges and earn some brand new fans!
